How to install the cartridge:
- 1. Press Options
- 2. Use the Review keys to scroll to Use ink functions?, then press Enter/yes to confirm
- 3. Use the Review keys to scroll to Replace ink cartridge?, then press Enter/yes to confirm
- 4. Open the lid of the printer
- 5. Press the top of the ink cartridge latch (Green unlock button)
- 6. Tilt the old cartridge towards you and lift out
- 7. Remove the new cartridge from its package and pull off the protective tape
- 8. Tilt the new cartridge towards you and insert it into the print head. Straighten the cartridge so its upright
- 9. Press down on the ink cartridge latch firmly until it locks into place
- 10. Close the lid. Press Enter/yes.
- 11. Press Enter/yes to confirm the replacement. A print head initialisation occurs which lasts about 2-3 minutes
- 12. When prompted, insert an envelope/tape sheet to print a test pattern to confirm print quality
- 13. If the test pattern looks good, press Enter/yes.
Problem: Printing blank pages/ No output
The printer is not producing any ink on the page
Resolution
The problem is that the printer is not piercing the foil to releases the ink.
- Use a needle to pierce the foil at the top of the cartridge (Make sure do this over a piece of paper as some ink may be released)
- Below are pictures of what to do:
Put the cartridge this way up on a piece of paper or the wrapper of the cartridge
Next use a needle to break through the foil at the top of the cartridge
Once the foil is pierced, carefully install the cartridge into the printer being careful not shake the cartridge to much.
Problem: Ink not drying
The ink is not drying on the labels
Resolution
This cartridge only works with mailing grade labels. Cheaply bought glossy labels can cause this issue to occur.
Problem: Poor print quality
Printouts are coming out with poor print quality.
Resolution
Follow these steps to clean your printhead and run the maintenance function on your meter. Doing this can improve your print quality.
- 1. Press Options
- 2. Use the Review keys to scroll to Use ink functions?, then press Enter/yes to confirm
- 3. Use the Review keys to scroll to Replace ink cartridge?, then press Enter/yes to confirm
- 4. Open the lid of the printer
- 5. Press the top of the ink cartridge latch (Green unlock button)
- 6. Tilt the old cartridge towards you and lift out
- 7. Squeeze the latches holding the print head cover in place and lift the print head cover.
- 8. Lift the print head out of the machine.
- 9. Gently clean the print head with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- 10. Put the print head back into the machine.
- 11. Close the print head cover, making sure it clicks into place.
- 12. Replace the ink cartridge,Tilt the cartridge towards you and insert it into the print head. Straighten the cartridge so its upright
- 13. Press down on the ink cartridge latch firmly until it locks into place
- 14. Close the lid. Press Enter/yes.
- 15. Press Enter/yes to confirm the replacement. A print head initialisation occurs which lasts about 2-3 minutes
- 16. When prompted, insert an envelope/tape sheet to print a test pattern to confirm print quality
- 17a. If the test pattern looks good, press Enter/yes.
- 17b. If the test pattern is not good, run the maintenance function:
- 18. Press the down arrow key to "Clean Printer Nozzles?"
- 19. After the meter cleans the printer nozzles, follow the prompts to run another test pattern.
- Do not run the clean printer nozzles more than three times
- If your printing issue persists after you have wiped down your print head and cleaned your printer nozzles, you may need to replace the print head.
