Problem: error "E0", "damaged cartridge", "cartridge missing" or "empty cartridge"
The cartridge is not being recognised by the printer or the printer is reporting an error such as "damaged cartridge", "cartridge missing", "empty cartridge" (when new) or just "E0!".
Resolution
1. Check the seal tapes: ensure that the seal tapes have been removed from the cartridge. This includes the blue tape which covers the printhead - sometimes this is easy to overlook.
2. If seal tapes are removed, try the following steps:
- Uninstall the cartridge from the printer.
- Gently wipe the chip on the cartridge with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any dust or debris.
- Unplug the printer from the power source and and wait for about 10 minutes. This helps reset the printer's internal memory.
- Re-install the cartridge securely back into the printer.
Problem: Printing blank pages / fading on print.
Printouts are faded or completely blank. This is often caused by blockages in the printhead.
Resolution
- Remove the affected cartridge from the printer.
- Carefully wipe the printhead with a piece of damp kitchen tissue soaked in warm water. Make sure it is only damp, not dripping wet. Ensure the base of the cartridge, where the ink comes out, is in direct contact with the tissue to allow it to absorb ink and clear any blockages.
- After cleaning the printhead, reinstall the cartridge and try printing again.
If the problem persists:
1. Place the cartridge printhead on a piece of damp kitchen tissue for 20 minutes, ensuring the ink exit area is touching the tissue. This allows ink to loosen any stubborn clogs.
2. Reinstall the cartridge and test the print again.

What type of ink is used in our compatible HP 305 cartridges?
Our compatible HP 305 ink cartridges use dye ink for both the Black and Colour cartridges.
We have found that pigment ink can sometime clog the printhead nozzles if the printer is not used regularly. Dye ink does not clog the nozzles and can produce more vivid prints which is why it has been selected for our HP 305 remanufactured ink cartridges.
How do we get more ink inside our compatible HP 305 cartridges?
During the remanufacturing process the internal structure of the HP 305 cartridges has been changed to allow the ink volume to be increased. The extra volume helps to print more pages and lower the overall cost per page.
