1. Insert the left side of the cartridge into the printer

2. Press down the right side of the cartridge, then slide the handle of the cartridge left to the lock position
|
|
3. After the cartridge is fully inserted and locked into place, the printer cover can be closed |

Problem: "Install Toner" or "Toner Missing"
If you have inserted the cartridge, this error indicates that the toner cartridge is not installed properly.
Resolution
- Press the cover release and open the output tray fully.
- Slide the lock to the right to unlock the toner cartridge temporarily, then slide the lock back to the left to secure the toner cartridge.
- Close the output tray and press down firmly so that the cover latches closed.
- If the problem persists, turn the power off and then back on again.
Problem: Error Message 231
Printer is reporting Error (Error code 231)
Resolution
- With the printer powered on, remove the affected toner cartridge from the printer.
- Power off the printer and wait for 10 seconds before turning the printer back on.
- When the printer reports the toner cartridge is missing, power off the printer, install the affected cartridge and switch the printer back on.
Please Note:
- This error message can be produced because of a lack of power to the printer.
- If your printer is plugged into an extension socket, try plugging it into a wall socket and see if the error message still occurs.
Problem: Error Message 990
Printer is reporting Error (Error code 990)
Resolution
- Power off printer
- Remove black toner cartridge
- Gently tap black cartridge against a hard surface, such as the top of a desk
- Refit black toner cartridge
- Power on printer
Please Note:
- This error message can be produced because of a lack of power to the printer.
- If your printer is plugged into an extension socket, try plugging it into a wall socket and see if the error message still occurs.
Problem: Error (Order Toner)
Printer is reporting Error (Order Black/ Cyan / Magenta / Yellow Toner)
Resolution
This message indicates that the printer believes the cartridge has run out of toner.
If you've used close to the page yield of the cartridge (At 5 % coverage), this would indicate that you need to replace the cartridge as you've depleted all the toner
If you've only just installed the cartridge then this would indicate a cartridge fault. To remove this message:
- Power off printer
- Remove and immediately refit the affected toner cartridge
- Power on printer
- Re-install the cartridge

- This error message can be produced because of a lack of power to the printer.
- If your printer is plugged into an extension socket, try plugging it into a wall socket and see if the error message still occurs.
Problem: Faded Output
Printouts are coming out faded.
Resolution
- If the print quality is poor, remove the toner cartridge from the printer and gently rock the cartridge from side to side.
- This movement helps distribute to the toner evenly within the cartridge.
- After rocking the cartridge 5-6 times, re-insert the cartridge into the printer and print a test page.
Problem: Cartridge is the wrong size
The cartridges are physically a different size or shape.
Resolution
Compatible cartridges will always look different to the original branded cartridges
They will often differ in shape or size but this does not affect the fitting or functionally of the cartridges in any way at all
