The video below shows the Compatible Canon GI-51 ink bottles as an example.
These steps will also work for your printer's range of ink bottles.
Ink in the cartridge, but not printing
- The cartridge may show as empty or produce faded print despite ink remaining.
- Printing stops once the cartridge reaches around 30% remaining ink, which is kept as a reserve.
- This reserve cannot be accessed and is used to keep the internal sponge moist and protect the printhead.
- This is normal behaviour and not a fault.
- The cartridge will need to be replaced.
Colour mixing
- Check that the ink colour in the ink tank matches the printer’s labelled ink tank.
White line
- Run the cleaning operation up to three times.
Broken line
- Check if the paper tray is flat.
- Check if the printer requires maintenance.
