Printer cartridge installation
Compatible HP 201A Toners

10.0X.30 Unauthorised Cartridge
  • The administrator has configured this printer to use only genuine HP cartridges.
10.0X.57 Protected Cartridge
  • The cartridge can only be used in the printer or fleet of printers that initially protected it using HP Cartridge Protection.
  • Resolution:
  • Use the printer control panel to disable the Cartridge Policy feature:
  • From the Home screen, touch the Menu icon.
  • Open Supplies > Settings.
  • Disable Authorized HP Cartridge Policy.
  • Please note: Once Cartridge Policy is disabled, the cartridges already installed will no longer work. You should be able to install new compatible cartridges with no issues.
  • If these steps do not disable Cartridge Protection, please contact your network administrator. They can disable this feature via the HP EWS (Embedded Web Server).
Cartridge is not compatible / Cartridge is not recognised
  • The compatible cartridge has been installed correctly, but the printer is not registering it as installed or states it is not compatible.
  • Remove the affected cartridge or cartridges from the printer.
  • Turn the printer off and wait for 2 minutes.
  • Turn the printer back on and wait for a further 2 minutes.
  • Once the printer warns that certain cartridge or cartridges are missing, reinstall them one at a time.

My prints are faded
  • If the print quality is poor, remove the toner cartridge from the printer and gently rock it side to side.
  • This movement helps distribute the toner evenly within the cartridge.
  • After rocking the cartridge 5–6 times, reinsert it and print a test page.
  • If the issue persists, check the life of maintenance items in case they need replacing
