"Used Cartridge Installed"
After installing your new cartridge, the printer will indicate that a 'used' cartridge has been installed.
Resolution: Please note this is just a warning message. When the message appears, press 'OK' to continue. You should now be able to print as normal. This error should only appear once for each cartridge.
"Non HP Cartridges"
This is a just a warning message to state that the cartridges are not genuine HP, this is not an error.
- When the message appears, press 'OK' to continue. You should now be able to print as normal.
"Cartridge Memory Missing"
After installing your new cartridge, the printer will indicate that the cartridge memory is missing.
Resolution:
- Reset the printer.
- Clean the chip with a lint free cloth/tissue.
"Non HP-Chip detected"
Resolution: This could be due to a new HP firmware update on the printer. Please contact our customer care centre for more information.
Problem: Faded Output
Printouts are coming out faded.
Resolution
- If the print quality is poor, remove the toner cartridge from the printer and gently rock the cartridge from side to side.
- This movement helps distribute to the toner evenly within the cartridge.
- After rocking the cartridge 5-6 times, re-insert the cartridge into the printer and print a test page.

This is the back of the cartridges, showing the orange clip that has to be removed before installation. Some may be secured with plastic ties, these can be cut off.
