Problem: faded output
Printouts are coming out faded.
Resolution
- If the print quality is poor, remove the toner cartridge from the printer and gently rock the cartridge from side to side.
- This movement helps distribute to the toner evenly within the cartridge.
- After rocking the cartridge 5-6 times, re-insert the cartridge into the printer and print a test page.
Problem: streaks or bands down page
Printouts have coloured streaks or bands down the page.
Resolution
The Corona Wires may need cleaning, to do this follow the steps below.
- Turn off the machine & unplug the telephone line cord first disconnect all cables and unplug the power cord.
- Open the top cover by lifting up on the handle - when the scanner is open you cannot open the top cover.
- Take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly and place on a clean flat surface with a sheet of disposable paper underneath in case toner is accidentally spilt.
- Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the green tab from left to right and right to left several times.
- Return the tab to the home position so that the ^ images match up if not the pages printed may have a vertical stripe.
- Return the cartridge to the printer, repeat for all other remaining cartridges
- Close the top cover of the machine.
- Plug the machine`s power cord back in to the electrical socket first and then reconnect all cables and telephone line cord.
- Turn on machine.
Problem: toner light is on
The toner cartridge has been installed but the toner light is remaining on.
Resolution for the HL printer series
- Power off the printer and open the front cover.
- Whilst holding down the GO button, turn the printer on.
- When all 3 lights are lit (pictured) release the GO button and press GO twice.
- Once all 3 lights turn back on, press GO 5 times and wait for for the toner and drum light to turn off.
- Once this happens, close the front cover and restart the printer.
- This will remove the toner light and allow for continuous printing.
Resolution for the DCP printer series
- With the printer turned on, open the front cover to access the toner.
- Press the Clear button.
- Press the Start button. (When you press START the screen should clear.)
- Press the Down Arrow button.
- Press the Up Arrow button. (When you press the down arrow an 'E0' should appear, which will change to '00' when you press the up arrow).
- When it says accepted, press the OK button.
- Close the front door.
Please note:
This error message may appear more than once during the life of the cartridge.
This process resets the toner levels of the cartridge. You can judge whether your cartridge needs. replacing by looking for deterioration in print quality.
The series of printer you use will alter the troubleshooting. Please use the appropriate troubleshooting for your printer.
Resolution for the MFC printer series
- Open front cover (This will produce the message 'Cover is open').
- Press the clear / back button (This will produce the message 'Replace drum?').
- Press *00 (Star, zero, zero).
- Wait for the 'Accepted' message to appear.
- This will clear the low toner error message and will allow for continuous printing.
