After replacing the cartridge / during use, the cartridge may report "Replace Parts Drum" / "Drum End Soon" or the drum LED might flash. To remove this error message / flashing light, please follow relevant troubleshooting steps below.
FOR HL SERIES PRINTERS:
1. Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge from the printer and wait for 1-2 minutes.
2. Re-install the drum unit and toner cartridge into the printer.
3. If the drum LED continues to blink it means the drum counter wasn't reset. Please continue to follow the steps below:
4. Open the front cover of the printer
5. Press and hold down the "Go" button for 4-5 seconds until all the LEDs light up.
6. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the "Go" button
7. Close the front cover. This should have reset the drum counter.
FOR MFC SERIES PRINTERS:
1. Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge from the printer and wait for 1-2 minutes.
2. Re-install the drum unit and toner cartridge into the printer.
3. If the error message "Change Drum Soon/Drum end soon" continues to appear it means the drum counter wasn't reset. Please continue to follow the steps below:
4. Make sure that the printer is turned on.
5. Press "Options" or press "Clear" or "Clear/Back" on the control panel.
6. If your Brother machine has a numeric keypad: Press 1 to reset the drum counter. If your Brother machine doesn't have a numeric keypad: Press the Up Arrow Key to reset the drum counter.
7. When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover.
FOR FAX SERIES PRINTERS:
1. Open the front panel of the printer.
2. Press "Options" or press "Clear" or "Clear/Back" on the control panel.
3. Press the 1 button to reset the counter.
5. Close the front panel.
Problems you might encounter
Problem: Poor Print Quality
The cartridge is producing faded output or is leaving marks down the page
Resolution
- Open the printer cover to gain access to the printer cartridges.
- Remove both the toner cartridge and the drum unit from the printer
- On the drum unit, slide the green or blue tab from right to left several times.
- Re-insert the toner cartridge and drum unit into the printer and print a test page.
- If the print quality is still poor remove the drum unit and inspect the roller for any damage.
Problem: Faint Characters on Printouts
Printouts have faint characters / letters appearing down the page
Resolution
- Print 15-20 pages and see if the problem persists.
