Problem: Vertical lines or Streaks on the page
Printouts are coming out with vertical black lines or streaks.
Resolution
- Make a blank copy from the ADF, this prints a page with a grid that indicates how much of the roller is dirty.
- Remove the cartridge and with a damp lint free cloth, clean the roller.
- Insert it back into the printer.
Problem: Faded Prints
Printouts are coming out faint.
Resolution
- Remove the cartridge and inspect the roller for any visible scratches or damage.
- If there is no damage, gently rock the cartridge from side to side, this movement helps to distribute the toner evenly within the cartridge.
- Insert it back into the printer.

Use the printer control panel to disable the Cartridge Policy feature:
- From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Menu icon.
- Open the following menus:
- Supplies
- Settings
- Touch the button next to Authorized HP Cartridge Policy to disable the feature.
Please Note: Once Cartridge Policy is disabled, the cartridges already installed will no longer work but you should be able to install new compatible cartridges with no issues.
If these steps do not disable the Cartridge Protection, you should contact your network administrator who should be able to disable this feature from the HP EWS (Embedded Web Server).
If the customer receives a "Supply Memory" or "Unauthorised Supply" error, the printer may have HP protection enabled.
